Rakesh Bedi and Aahana Kumra extend their support to Theatre Community

The stage and its spotlights have taken prime place in people’s hearts for years. With memorable characters and extraordinary stories leading the art form to resounding applause, theatre has flourished beyond measure. Forming a vital part of these systems is the relentless support of staff and technicians who ensure seamless execution and a flawless frontage. Through a mass fundraising campaign, Zee Theatre has partnered with the Give India Foundation with an aim to raise funds that can help the staff and technicians pull through these challenging times.

Theatre stalwarts like Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Rakesh Bedi, Makarand Deshpande, Divya Dutta, Aahana Kumra, and Shikha Talsania, among others, are pledging their support to urge people to donate to the theatre community. A specially created campaign video features them highlighting the importance of the support staff and technicians and their fundamental contribution to the theatre experience. Actor and lyricist Amitosh Nagpal penned a special poem to convey the industry’s unified sentiment. The campaign video is currently running on Tata Sky Theatre, Airtel Spotlight, Dish TV and D2H Rangamanch Active.

Actress Aahana Kumra said, “My heart goes out to each person in the theatre industry who is going through these tough times. Our community has always been close-knit and we need all the support we can get. I am more than happy to do my bit for the people who have made me everything I am today. Zee Theatre’s initiative will be a wonderful and an effective way to accomplish what the theatre industry needs right now, which is unending support.”

Actor Rakesh Bedi said, “Through the 40 years of my career I have seen theatre grow and flourish in the face of a number of challenges. But my faith remains that the industry will figure its way out of this setback as well. I am more than happy to do my part and aid Zee Theatre in this initiative. It’s an opportunity for me to give back to the stage that I love so much, and I hope this fundraiser sees the success it deserves. It is important that people unite to support the foundations of the theatre community.”
