Tom Alter was born on the 22nd of June in the year 1950. He was born in Mussoorie in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He is one of the most iconic names in the Indian theatre world. He was a very famous actor in Indian theatre and not only that, but he was also an actor for the Hindi cinema. Unfortunately, the actor expired in the year 2017 on the 29th of September. But he is still remembered by his commendable works. The actor was recognized widely by his amazing acting skills and strong dialogue delivery.
Due to his works, he was also appreciated by the government of India by being awarded the Padma Shri award by them in the year 2008. The legend studied acting under Roshan Taneja from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. Apparently, he studied here with Benjamin Gilani and Naseeruddin Shah who are also eminent theatre personas. Along with these actors, he helped found a theatre group called Motley Productions and they produced their first play called Waiting For Godot and presented it at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai. This play proved to be so sensational that it gained recognition across the globe too.
